Amfori BSCI

Amfori is a company that provides a platform to empower, support, and engage with suppliers. They also monitor supply chains and ensure they are meeting Amfori's 11-principle code of conduct. To summarize, Amfori helps suppliers become more sustainable, reduce costs, improve resilience and performance, and give guidance on the best practices.

Our manufacturer has the AmforiBSCI certification. This means they meet all 11 principles. One principle we feel is extremely important to note is the one surrounding workers' health and safety. This certification ensures that there is continuous education and training for employees. In addition, it verifies that it is a discrimination-free workplace with fair and decent working hours. It also confirms there is no child labor and protects minors in the same way we do in the US. If all that wasn't enough, holding this certification means you have ethical and eco-friendly business practices.

OEKO-TEX

Our next certifications come from OEKO-TEX. OEKO-TEX is an independent research and test institute that monitors suppliers and manufacturers. Our manufacturer has four certifications from them: the Standard 100 (S100), Made in Green, STeP, and the Detox to Zero Certification. One thing these certs have in common is their dedication to socially responsible working conditions and a focus on the health and safety of the workers - and the planet.

First, let's look at the S100. This certification states that all production is free of harmful substances. Pretty straightforward, right? Next is the Made in Green Certification. This certification focuses on having an environmentally friendly facility. Likewise, it confirms safe and socially responsible working conditions. Lastly, it verifies that the processes in place are sustainable.

The STeP Certification focuses on environmental performance, environmental and chemical management, quality assurance, and worker health and safety. Generally, it keeps the workers happy while maintaining sustainable practices. It is similar to the Made in Green Certification.

Finally, we have the Detox to Zero Certification. This focuses on wastewater management, restricting harmful substances, proper disposal of waste, and other general management of chemicals/environmental performance. With the Detox to Zero certification, you can rest easy knowing any waste is handled with care and is free of harmful chemicals.

Made in Green:

"Made in Green" is a certification program developed by OEKO-TEX, an independent organization that tests textile products for harmful substances. The "Made in Green" certification provides consumers with information about the production of the textile product they are buying, including the production facilities, the raw materials used, and the manufacturing processes involved.

To be certified as "Made in Green," a textile product must meet the following requirements:

  1. The product must be tested for harmful substances according to the OEKO-TEX Standard 100.
    2. The product must be manufactured in a facility that is environmentally friendly and socially responsible.
    3. The facility must comply with the requirements of the OEKO-TEX STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) certification.

Once a textile product meets these requirements, it is given a unique identification code that can be used to track the product's production process and to provide consumers with more detailed information about the product's production.

The "Made in Green" certification program is intended to provide consumers with more transparency about the products they buy, and to promote environmentally sustainable and socially responsible manufacturing practices in the textile industry.

All Essell products are manufactured in Made in Green facility which means with each purchase, you are making a positive impact on the environment.
